Sorry for the delay in getting this posted. But we're a couple of days in to April and it's time for a new batch of monthly themes. As always, we've broken down the extended edition movies by scene to honor the spirit of filming. Please remember, though, that these are not written in stone. You are welcome to post about anything related to the films, the books, the cast and crew; anything at all regardless of what's listed here.

This month's themes:

♦ The Fellowship of the Ring

Scene 21: Flight to the Ford
If you want him come and claim him!

From Bilbo's trolls to that amazing chase scene through the standoff at the Ford of Bruinen. Posting ideas include the Hobbit tie-in, elvish, the gorgeous horses, the special effects, or even elf magic.

Scene 22: Rivendell
You are in the House of Elrond and it is ten o'clock in the morning on October the 24th, if you want to know.

From Frodo waking up in Rivendell to Gandalf recalling his escape from Saruman. Posting ideas include the friendship between Frodo and Gandalf, Sauron and Gandalf's relationship through the years.

Scene 23: Many Meetings
I spent all my childhood pretending I was off somewhere else, off with you on one of your adventures. My own adventure turned out to be quite different. I'm not like you Bilbo.

Frodo reunites with all of the hobbits through realizing he's ready to end this adventure and go home. Posting ideas include Sam's fascination with the elves, Frodo's love of home, the great friendship between the actors who portrayed the hobbits.

♦ The Two Towers

Scene 28 - The Forests of Ithilien
I want to help him, Sam.
Why?
Because I have to believe he can come back.

Frodo and Sam fight as they and Gollum continue toward Mordor. Posting ideas include Andy's experience splashing around in freezing water, the explosion that went off while filming, Sam and Frodo's relationship.

Scene 29 - Gollum and Sméagol
You're a liar and a thief.
No.
Murderer.

Gollum and Sméagol fight it out; Sméagol orders Gollum out of his head. Posting ideas include a discussion of the character (maybe comparing book- and movie-verse), Andy's performance, the animation.

Scene 30 - Of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit
War will make corpses of us all.

From Sméagol and Sam arguing over cooking rabbits to seeing soldiers and olphaunts through Frodo and Sam being captured by Faramir. Posting ideas include Sam's wonder at the oliphaunt, Faramir.

♦ The Return of the King

Scene 32 - "No More Despair"
I would have you smile again, not grieve for those whose time has come.

Théoden tells Éowyn he wants her to rule and defend Edoras in his place. Posting ideas include a discussion about the relationship between these characters, their backstories.

Scene 33 - Dwimorberg - The Haunted Mountain
The way is shut. It was made by those who are dead and the dead keep it. The way is shut.

Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli ride through a canyon and arrive at the entrance to the Paths of the Dead. Posting ideas include the location used for the scene, changes made from the book, stories about the Dwimorberg or what it was like filming here.

Scene 34 - The Muster of Rohan
Little hobbits do not belong in war, Master Meriadoc. ...
I want to fight!
I will say no more.

The Rohirrim ride for Gondor. Posting ideas include fics about the people of Rohan, discussion on the importance of cavalry, the differences between the book and the movie in how Éowyn and Merry ride to war together.

Scene 35 - The Paths of the Dead
The dead do not suffer the living to pass.
You will suffer me!

Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas confront the King of the Dead, are almost buried in a sea of skulls and emerge to see the fleet of Corsair ships en route to Minas Tirith; the dead agree to fight. Posting ideas include discussing the look of the dead and their city, the dialogue and language, Gimli's portrayal.

Scene 36 - The Siege of Gondor
Send these foul beasts into the Abyss.

Faramir returns to Minas Tirith near death, Gandalf takes control of the defense of the city, and Gothmog calls in Grond to breach the wall. Posting ideas include comparing how the soldiers of Gondor are depicted versus the soldiers of Rohan, Denethor's despair and madness.

As mentioned before, this is just a general attempt to keep things organized. The idea is to honor the spririt of filming without venturing off into being mega-sticklers for the exact filming schedule (which none of us know anyway). The scene list is from the extended edition of the films.

This is by no means written in stone. If you would like to post something related to the story or the actors during filming but not connected with the scene list or general theme of the month, please post away. We're very flexible here.
